We investigate for Government, business, the private person, as well as lawyers, solicitors and barristers, across North Queensland. 30 years experience in criminal investigations, both defence and prosecution, including Supreme Court and Coroners Court matters.
We are licensed, as a Queensland private investigation business, to investigate, to gather personal information, evidence, and conduct surveillance. To conduct an investigation we require an initial briefing (and sometimes a copy of the court brief), where as much information as is available is provided to us. Often we are supplied copies of the relevant documents. We will supply a quote, and will proceed once this is accepted by the client. We will outline what we can and cannot do, generally. We must stay compliant with the law if the evidence, or information, we gather is to be of use.
A Townsville criminal investigation is primarily the province of the Queensland Police. If you are not happy with the speed, or direction, of the police investigation we are available to assist you. It is unfortunate that the Police Service has chosen to go to a centralised public service crime reporting system, which means the police do not actually take the initial complaint, nor initially attend to assess the scene, and speak with the complainant, anymore. This disengagement has left people feeling they are just a number (actually a crime report), and has meant local police fail to recognise the MO of a particular offender, or gain a feel for how a crime happened, or the effect on the victim, as they now rely on technology alone. This has been combined with a judicial system which places emphasis on offender rights, over responsibility to society, and within this are divisions in treatment, based on ethnicity claimed, and a need to protect the identity of the offender and look after their 'rights', especially if they are younger. People seek to blames judges for this, appearing not to recognise that this is the result of government legislation and directions, more than judges decisions. The last person it appears who is considered is the victim, even in court they do not exist, they are simply a witness. We are there to try and address this imbalance, as private investigators, because we work for you, and are not tied to the same restrictions and demands to complete multiple tasks, plus proactive activities, in a time frame, as the police.
Of course not all Police are of the same caliber as investigators, nor with regards their behavior. If you believe that you were the subject of a wrongful arrest, or incorrect action, we may be able to assist.
Criminal Defence Investigation
It is legal for us to ask people questions, to take affidavits (statements), and to put questions to people. Despite what you are told a private investigator is entitled to ask questions of anyone, including police, and a complainant, under the right circumstances. We have been threatened by police at times, who claim we are interfering with a witness. This is not correct, asking questions of a witness is not interfering, it is part of the investigation process. The police do not 'own' a witness.
The defence are entitled to make inquiries, to establish the who, what, when and where, relating to a matter, as well as the police. We are all aware that not everyone charged is guilty, that is why we have a court case, as well as for more serious matters a committal hearing where evidence is initially tested.
Some corporate investigations are commonly known as HR investigations. These are investigations where we are engaged to investigate allegations of inappropriate behaviour, appropriate relationships, corruption, fraud, or criminal activity, or a workplace incident. These are often a longer, more deliberate investigation, where the methods used, and the eventual outcome, must follow a structured path to ensure that the integrity of the investigation is without fault, and that the corporate guidelines are complied with. As a Townsville private investigator, North Queensland private investigation, service, we are utilised to provide distance between the business and the investigation, as an external investigator, a 'disinterested' third party.
We are also utilised for due diligence investigations, from simple surveillance to confirm traffic and activities to more thorough investigations where a concern is raised. Our services are also used for risk management matters such as making inquiries about the background of an applicant, querying a CV, or face to face inquiries with referees. We are used as a mystery shopper, where there is a question about service, or behaviour.
Workers Compensation Insurance Investigations, Workcover Investigations
Workcover investigations, either surveillance or factual investigation, are conducted where there is a need to locate and preserve evidence, a suspicion of fraud, or a due diligence requirement because of exposure. Workers Compensation insurance claim investigations are conducted for both the Government insured and the privately insured. We have years of experience in these investigations, call us for your Townsville and North Queensland Workcover investigation requirements.
Child Custody and Access Investigations
We are experienced in surveillance and factual investigations associated with child custody dispute investigations. When an application to vary a child custody access arrangement, or a to obtain custody of children, when there is a separation, or divorce, our services are used to gather evidence to support that application, or evidence to show a risk to the child. We are used to find locations, to observe and record illegal activity, or risky behaviour that threatens the child.
Traffic Accident Investigations
Townsville traffic accident investigations are conducted by ex-police, with experience and training in this area. The closer to the time of the incident the greater the chances of a successful outcome. Many of our clients have been both shocked and surprised at the poor standard of some police traffic accident investigations, some of our clients are surprised at how little they remember themselves of a traffic accident (it is a consequence of shock, and for some losing consciousness). We have an advantage as private investigators in that we are not required to get in, take a few notes, and then move on to the next job, as the police are. We can search for witnesses, examine the scene, record video and still evidence, as well as measurements, obtain affidavits, and sometimes present a different version of events to the picture the police paint from a cursory investigation.
As a Townsville private investigator we are requested to investigate on behalf of concerned parents, frustrated police complainants, people who have been subjected to stalking, neighbour problems, local crime, drug matters, and incidents where they need proof, so the police can act or where parents desire a private investigation, so they can intervene where their children are at risk. We are not obliged to report matters to anyone other than the client, unless requested to do so.
Domestic violence matters also use our services, to gather evidence of breaches, to locate, and conduct surveillance of offenders. Please remember that the first contact, for a domestic violence complaint, should be the Police.
As a private investigation service we are often requested to investigate a suspected affair, infidelity, cheating. We are experienced and discreet. If you believe you have something to be worried about in your relationship, suspicious activity, or someone else has told you something, we are the way to discreetly confirm or deny this suspicion, or gather evidence of what is happening.
We do travel to places such as Ayr, Home Hill, Charters Towers, Ingham, as well as outer Townsville suburbs, to investigate. We do charge more to travel further.
